I believe the No Child Left Behind Act started as a good idea, but simply wasn't implemented correctly. Penalizing schools who have low test scores by taking financial assisstance away makes no sense at all. These are the schools that need more resources. Teachers are pressured to pass a child from one grade to another, which is truly doing a student not ready an injustice. There should be some sort of accountability to the schools and teachers but it has to be realistic and a plan that makes sense.

I agree that NCLB was a good idea, but wasn't implemented correctly. You are completely correct in that the schools who are struggling should be getting more resources and assistance. Something does need to be done about education in the U.S. but, like you said, it needs to be something that can actually be accomplished.

  2. I agree completely. When teachers are being held accountable for their students low test scores it is most likely just making those teachers figure out a way to get their students to pass, rather than to make sure their students are fully comprehending the material, and in many cases it is the foundation material, which will be built upon in future grade levels to come.

  3. I agree. NCLB could be very beneficial if implemented correctly. I also agree that it doesn't make any sense to penalize schools that aren't performing especially since those schools are the ones that usually are in highest need of better resources.

  4. I agree with the statement that punishing schools by taking away their financial resources is not the way to handle this situation. It is obvious that these school most likely need more resources seeing as how they are making failing marks. We need to help these schools, not punish them.
