One piece of advice I would give her is that an infants brain is developing rapidly and needs to be in an enriched environment. Being in an enriched environment will help the child develop mentally and physically well. I would also stress the fact that motor development is very important. Not all infants develop the motor skills at th same time but there are important gaps in which they need to be developed.

  1. I wonder if a new mother would know what an enriched environment is? I also think it is important for new mothers to understand their is a large window in which developmental things should occure. That their is nothing wrong with their baby if it happens late as long as it is within the window. I would also advise them to speak with their doctor about the time frames for things like rolling over, sitting up, crawling, walking, etc. so they have a gage to go by.
